Unpacking trauma that lack of access to safe, consistent hair care routines/providers can create. Learning what protective hairstyling means and what it can look like. Learning how to comb/detangle natural hair of all textures PAINLESSLY!
Beginning to Understand the language/s needed to get into healthy conversation with your hair/your child’s hair

Accessing a variety of hair care products and samples that could be suitable for your hair type. Learning how to do rope twists/braids that can be styled with much versatility.

about x SALON

x SALON brings together different creative positions that address the topic of hair and culture in a very broad sense. The everyday, the vernacular, the intimate and the personal find space in this installation.

It is inspired by Kerry James Marshalls painting “School of Beauty, School of Culture”.
Just like the painting, which depicts a thriving, vivid, black owned hair salon, we celebrate black beauty and culture and encourage black subjects to claim their style.

With x SALON we open up a space to gather, talk, share and care, heal, enjoy and re-treat.

x SALON is your favourite hair salon, your best friends living room and a place to learn and celebrate your style.
